The sole survivor of the Air India crash is a British man, Vishwashkumar Ramesh. A total of 241 passengers and crew were reported to have died, plus others who were in a building hit by the plane.

The pilot of the Air India plane that crashed in Ahmedabad made last minutes comments stating that the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner was not gaining enough thrust.

One passenger survived the crash but everyone else aboard the Boeing 787 was killed. More people died on the ground after the plane crashed and generated a large fireball. Black smoke billowed from the site where the plane crashed and burst into flames near the airport in Ahmedabad, a city of more than 5 million and the capital of Gujarat.
