A girl drowned after she wandered from her home in Houston's south side Monday, according to a spokesperson with the Houston Police Department. The 8-year-old, who had autism, was under her aunt's care with another child at an apartment near South Freeway 288 and Beltway 8,

An 8-year-old child with autism drowned Monday evening in a south Houston retention pond, Houston police said. The child was in an apartment in the 13500 block of Hycohen with her aunt and another child when she left the apartment,

Authorities said the young girl was staying with her aunt when she managed to slip out of the apartment unnoticed. She was later found in a retention pond.

Houston Police have identified a man killed while in his vehicle at an apartment complex in South Houston on Sunday. Police say 30-year-old Jevon Clark was driving into the parking lot when he was shot.
