One inch of snow was measured in Central Park at 7 a.m., and the National Weather Service announced an official white Christmas.

The National Weather Service officially considers a location to have had a white Christmas if there is one inch of snow already on the ground or if new snow of at least an inch falls on Christmas Day.

The frosty precipitation gathered on tree limbs and rooftops, making for a scene serving as a reminder of Christmas Eve. While the snow is a delight for the time being, it may not stick around into Wednesday and result in a white Christmas,

With Christmas right around the corner, many are checking the forecast – and some are even dreaming (sorry Southerners) – of a snowy holiday to match the classic, “White Christmas.” In 2023, a white Christmas remained true to the song – a dream.
