This led to the creation of the Universal Championship as Raw’s flagship title. In 2020, Reigns won the Universal title, launching a successful run for him and WWE as champion.

It is the red brand counterpart to the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship which is defended on SmackDown. The title was unveiled by Triple H on the April 24th episode of Monday Night RAW.
