The largest mill reminder in the landscape is the Barker Mill at the foot of the park. This mill was built in 1808 by gunsmith J. Abraham Nippes who made rifles here for the war of 1812.

Arsenault’s great-grandfathers worked in the mill, as did her grandfathers, grandmothers, and parents. Hired as a pipefitter in 1952, her father gave 43 years of his life to the mill.
