A new digital scan of the Titanic has revealed important details about the ship's final hours. Researchers used underwater robots to capture over 700,000 high-resolution images from a depth of 3,800 meters.

The luxurious ship struck an iceberg about 400 miles south of Canada about 11:40 p.m. on April 14, 1912, and sank within three hours of the collision.

The project, led by National Geographic and Atlantic Productions for a new documentary titled Titanic: The Digital Resurrection, marks the first time the entire wreck has been mapped in such detail
