Rumor has it that Nvidia's RTX 5090 wielding the GB202 chip has a massive 744mm-squared die size. Nvidia is expected to announced the Blackwell RTX 50-series GPUs at CES 2025 in January.

The die looks a little shiny, but besides that, it has the official RTX 4090 AD102 label on. It's just not legitimate. That's a tricky scam to pull off, though, and not one that's without investment.

For example, its mobile RTX 4090 chip is the RTX 4080 desktop SKU, aka AD103. It's not the full RTX 4090 AD102 die for thermal reasons, not to mention it would be ridiculously expensive and massive.

If you're wondering how we know it's using a cut-down RTX 4090 chip, there are two clues. First, the TGP (Total Graphics Power) figure is 295 W, which is 10 W higher than a standard RTX 4070 Ti Super.
