PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — The Northern lights danced across Southern skies Friday night and early Saturday morning. WAVY viewers captured the celestial spectacle also known as the Aurora Borealis.

Dazzling displays of colour and stars were seen over Portsmouth and Hampshire. Residents were mesmerised by the Northern Lights as they shone over the city and parts of the county overnight.

The Space Weather Prediction Center states that geomagnetic activity is predicted for Monday and Tuesday night.
