Size doesn't matter. At least that's what a handful of hotels in New York hope lodgers will think when they stay in their small, yet functional and affordable rooms.

Pod's parent company, BD Hotels, is opening a Pod 39 on East 39th Street this month. citizenM Hotels, hailing from Europe, also plans to open two of its own pod hotels in NYC by 2014.

The Pod brand was one of the first to make inroads in New York City, and this year, the chain—which has two outposts in Midtown—will expand even further with two new hotels.

Nightly rates at Pod Hotels start from $75. Pod Times Square will also feature a new outpost of the popular NYC chain Parm, and a new Tiki Bar located in the hotel’s third-floor lobby.
