Ohtani uncorked a 101.7 mph fastball on an 0-2 count against Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino, with Pasquantino pulling the ball to second base for an inning-ending double play.

Shohei Ohtani threw the fastest pitch of his MLB career on Saturday as he continued his return to the mound with two innings during the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 9-5 defeat to the Kansas City Royals.

Ohtani got through the first inning in 14 pitches, eight of which were fastballs, including one that was clocked at 101.7 mph — the hardest of his career — that got Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino to hit into an inning-ending double play.
