The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced plans to remodel and architecturally change the exterior of the Ogden Utah Temple and add an underground parking lot.

OGDEN — LDS Church leaders gave a media tour of the newly renovated Ogden temple in advance of the public open house, which begins later this week.

The temple, located in the heart of Ogden at 350 22nd St., has been serving Latter-day Saints in northeastern Utah and southwestern Wyoming since Jan. 18, 1972, when Smith dedicated it.

When the Ogden Temple was originally dedicated in 1972, Richards said, it was the 14th temple in the church. Now, it is one of 14 temples in Utah. You may reach JaNae Francis at 801-625-4228.
