OAKLAND – Traffic was snarled Wednesday afternoon on eastbound Highway 24 after a car caught fire in the Caldecott Tunnel. The fire stemmed from a two-vehicle collision just after 4 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The Oakland Fire Department said the blaze broke out about 400 feet into the tunnel.

A vehicle fire in the eastbound bore of the Caldecott Tunnel has shut down all lanes of traffic Wednesday afternoon. The fire is approximately 400 feet into the tunnel, according to the Oakland Fire Department.
