College softball's transfer portal is open. Will the Oklahoma Sooners be active after the Women's College World Series?

Facing the financial pressures tied to the upcoming House vs. NCAA settlement, the University of Oklahoma has begun laying off athletic department staff in preparation for a new era of athlete revenue sharing.

With the college football season just around the corner, the SEC announced kickoff times for some of Oklahoma’s early-season matchups. Oklahoma will kick off its season against Illinois State at 5 p.m. on Aug. 30 at home. Week 2 features a primetime home matchup between Oklahoma and Michigan at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 6. The game will air on ABC.

Last season, Oklahoma navigated one of the most difficult schedules in college football. The Sooners faced four top-20 teams and went just 1–3 in those matchups. The 2025 slate could prove even more brutal, with as many as eight opponents projected to begin the season ranked in the top 25.
