Duke and Morgan State will square off on Friday, May 17 at 2:30 p.m. ET in their opening game in the Durham Regional, part of the 2024 NCAA Softball Tournament.

When Morgan returned to Duke as a senior in 2018 and stepped away from the varsity team after the fall, she linked back up with Clare on the school’s club team. In July 2019, Morgan died by suicide.

Following Saturday’s Duke-South Carolina 11 a.m. game, Morgan State will face Utah at 1:30 p.m. in a regional elimination game. This story was originally published May 17, 2024 at 5:59 PM.

Morgan Rodgers, a 22-year-old former Duke student and women’s lacrosse player, died on Thursday, July 11, 2019, the school announced on Friday. Her cause of death does not appear to be suspicious.
