Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, who starred in hit 2001 TV series Meteor Garden, has died from pneumonia at the age of 48.

Barbie Hsu, better known as "Da S" which means "Big S," caught the flu when she visited Japan with her family during the Lunar New Year, according to her sister.

"Our whole family came to Japan for a trip, and my dearest and most kindhearted sister Barbie Hsu died of influenza-induced pneumonia and unfortunately left us," Barbie’s sister
