Two goals from Joao Pedro helped Chelsea ease their way into the final by beating Fluminense. In the previous rounds, Chelsea beat Benfica 4-1 in the round of 16 and they saw off another Brazilian side Palmeiras in the quarter-final with a 2-1 win.

From there, they hit another level. PSG cruised through the knockout stages without conceding a single goal, while scoring 10 times in three matches. They kicked off the playoffs by dismantling Inter Miami 4-0, scoring three times in the first half alone.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were knocked out of the Club World Cup Round of 16 by European champion Paris Saint-Germain in dominant fashion 4-0 on Sunday. It was PSG’s third clean sheet in its last four matches.

There will be plenty of nervous hand-wringing in the Chelsea camp ahead of the Club World Cup final. PSG are a formidable opposition at the best of times, and showed not even the faintest signs of weakness as they mercilessly picked Real Madrid apart. Chelsea have their work cut out for them.
