The financial repercussions for the Luka Doncic trade are expected to be quite dire for the Mavericks. Dallas is projected to lose dozens of millions of dollars in revenue this season as a direct result of the shocking trade that took place earlier this year, sources told ESPN.

The Dallas Mavericks’ trade of Luka Doncic didn’t make sense from a basketball standpoint, and it apparently makes even less sense from a business standpoint.

This is only payback after the team cost Luka Doncic more than $115 million by trading him away. He was going to be eligible to sign a supermax extension with the Mavs this offseason worth $345 million over five years. The most he can now sign for is $229 million over four years.
