The six-figure winning ticket was sold prior to last Wednesday’s Powerball drawing at the Circle K convenience store/gas station at 1001 62 nd Ave., according to the release. The ticket matched four white ball numbers and the red Powerball number, a feat that has odds of 1-in-913,129 of occurring, officials said.

A man in Massachusetts was doubly lucky during a Powerball drawing earlier this month. Fitchburg resident Paul Corcoran landed a $2 million pre-tax windfall from a pair of lottery tickets that won him prizes during the drawing that Powerball held on July 9, the lottery said Tuesday.

Paul Corcoran of Fitchburg, about 50 miles northwest of Boston, accidentally bought two tickets for the Powerball draw on July 9. As a result, he won two $1 million prizes on the same night, according to a Powerball news release.

More than 365,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million, the lottery said.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot (five numbers plus the Powerball) are 1 in 292.2 million. The chances of taking home the Match 5 prize is 1 in 11.68 million, while the four numbers plus the Powerball has odds of 1 in 913,129.18.
