Heading into the season, Indiana recognized that it would take time for its pieces to jell. White headlined a largely new coaching staff, and only five players remained from last season, when the Fever went 20-20 and stormed into the playoffs after opening with eight losses in their first nine games.

The Indiana Fever were blown out by the Golden State Valkyries, setting a new season low despite Caitlin Clark being back on the court.

Despite Clark's return against the Valkyries, the team ended up losing by a final score of 80-61. In the loss, Clark did not play well. She scored 10 points on 4-for-12 shooting to go along with six assists, five rebounds, and four turnovers. Those numbers did not live up to the hype of her return.
