The IDF has confirmed that senior Hamas leader Mohammed Sinwar was killed in a May 13 airstrike targeting an underground command center beneath a hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza. Sinwar had succeeded his brother Yahya Sinwar as head of Hamas after Yahya and Mohammed Deif were killed last year.
It says that dozens of Israeli Air Force jets "completed the first stage" of the attack, which includes "strikes on dozens of military targets, including nuclear targets in different areas of Iran". It says that weapons of mass destruction in the hands of Iran are an "existential threat" to Israel "and to the wider world".
