Members of the family who own and operate the Jacob Lake Inn returned to their property in the wake of wildfires and said they are facing an uncertain future.
A lightning-caused wildfire known as the Dragon Bravo Fire is burning on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. The fire is currently estimated at approximately 10 acres and is located south of the Basin near the W1 Road.
The Grand Canyon’s North Rim in Arizona also closed Thursday because of a wildfire on adjacent Bureau of Land Management land near Jacob Lake. The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said it helped evacuate people from an area north of Jacob Lake and campers in the Kaibab National Forest nearby.
The fire is located approximately 15 miles southwest of Fredonia, AZ, near the north rim of the Grand Canyon, according to a joint release from the Forest Service Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management and the Interagency Incident Management Team.
