A 1,300-year-old necklace made of gold, garnets and other semiprecious stones has been discovered by archaeologists excavating a site in central England earmarked for a housing development.

Archaeologists in England have uncovered a trove of treasure, including a stunning gold necklace they say is likely 1,300 years old and belonged to a devout and very wealthy Medieval woman.

The Harpole Treasure was the name given to a collection of relics discovered in England in 2022. The finds from an ancient burial site included a necklace that likely belonged to a wealthy woman.
