Psalm 46 says, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (vs. 1). How thankful we should be, because of our gracious, comforting, loving God who will come to our rescue.

But my biggest concern with the old saying “God helps those who help themselves” is that it has the potential to be misused, and will cause people to miscalculate because they may be trusting ...
