Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has chosen a conservative legislative ally as Florida chief financial officer, a statewide elected position vacated when Jimmy Patronis ran successfully for Congress in a special election this year.

After months with no one in the post, Gov. Ron DeSantis has named state Sen. Blaise Ingoglia to be Florida's new Chief Financial Officer.

While the Florida Board of Governors appointed FSU alumnus Brian Murphy – founder and CEO of the Tampa-headquartered cybersecurity technology company ReliaQuest – during a virtual meeting July 18, Gov. Ron DeSantis named business and real estate professional Tim Weisheyer to the university’s board that same day.
