The shooting unfolded at the Feather River Adventist School, a small Protestant school located two miles southwest of the town of Palermo (population 5,500) in southern Butte County.

On December 4, 56-year-old Glenn Litton opened fire at Feather River Adventist School in Oroville, California. Two children, both kindergarten students, were injured in the shooting.
