SpaceX plans to launch the 10th test flight of its Starship megarocket about three weeks from now, according to company founder and CEO Elon Musk.

SpaceX is investing $2 billion in xAI, Elon Musk's AI company, as part of a $5 billion equity round, amid his efforts to boost the AI startup.

The Department of Defense under Secretary Pete Hegseth has been fixated on buzzwords like “warfighting” and “warfighters,” and adopting new AI tools is part of that mission, according to leaders at the agency. And Monday’s press release was filled to the brim with similarly grandiose language.

The contract, awarded to Elon Musk’s xAI, has a $200 million ceiling. Anthropic, Google and OpenAI also signed similar contracts with the DOD Monday. The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) confirmed the contracts in a statement that praised the technology itself while offering little insight into how it might actually be used.

The beneficiaries, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google,and xAI will help in integrating artificial intelligence into national security operations.
