NEW YORK (AP) — New York Gov. Kathy Hochul held a series of meetings with key political leaders Tuesday as she contemplates removing Mayor Eric Adams from his office, an unprecedented step that reflects the growing turmoil inside City Hall.

Eric Adams has united Democrats in New York City. From across the boroughs and otherwise warring ideological factions, there is widespread agreement that the mayor has little to no chance of winning the Democratic primary he’s running in for reelection this June — and that he shouldn’t even try.

Four top New York City officials resigned on Monday in an apparent protest against Adams’ growing cooperation with the Trump administration since the federal corruption charges against him were dropped.
