Vincent DeLorenzo, 84, a former priest with the Lansing Diocese, assaulted the boy "following a service he officiated for the boy's deceased family member" in 1987, the attorney general said.

They said DeLorenzo abused their son after a funeral he officiated for a family member. The priest, they said, asked to spend time with the 5-year-old boy to help him through the loss.

Delorenzo, formerly of Flint, was among the first five priests charged by Nessel in May 2019, as part of an ongoing investigation into sex abuse at Catholic churches in the state. More in U.S.
