South Africa's rand, government bonds and stocks gained on Friday as investors mulled over the country's hosting of a two-day Group of 20 finance meeting where participants agreed a final communique,

Finance chiefs of G20 countries expressed optimism for an agreement on a common position on trade and other global challenges on Friday despite U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs which have overshadowed their meeting.

South African Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana said the Group of 20 advanced economies are nearing a deal on a communiqué.
