President Donald Trump teased the announcement last week, but Coca-Cola finally confirmed it Tuesday: a version of Coke’s trademark cola sweetened with cane sugar will be released in the U.S. this fall.

Coca-Cola offers an impressive amount of delicious Coke options. However, we particularly loved this flavor thanks to its sweetener, which isn't used often.

The clearest argument for cane sugar over corn syrup is taste. “You’ll see. It’s just better!” Trump said on Truth Social. Coke is made with cane sugar in Mexico and many other countries, and “Mexican Coke” has long had a cult following in the United States.

Her go-to refreshment for those hot, humid days was a pack of salted peanuts and a ten-ounce glass bottle of Coca-Cola kept "cold as ice" in an old-fashioned drink cooler with a sliding glass top. The total for both items came to about 30 cents (as she remembers).

Coca-Cola is launching a new bottle size for the first time in a decade, but it’s what the bottle’s made of that marks an even more notable first: 100% recycled plastic material.
