Controversy has befouled a national contest to create a new Oreo flavor: One Colorado woman says she came up with the company’s new cherry cola flavor but has not been given proper credit.

A representative for Oreo claims that although Young did submit the flavor idea on Twitter, they received nearly 700,000 contest entries, resulting in multiple suggestions for Cherry Cola.

At least when it comes to weird flavored Oreos. The latest blessing/abomination (depending on your taste) comes thanks to the winner of the #MyOreoCreation Contest: Cherry Cola Oreos.

The finalists in a competition to create a new Oreos flavor are Cherry Cola, Kettle Corn and Piña Colada. The creator of the winning flavor, decided in late June, gets $500,000.
