The Mega Millions jackpot had last been hit on Oct. 6 when a lottery player in Texas won a $360 million jackpot. The jackpot will not reset to $20 million for Tuesday night's drawing.
The Mega Millions jackpot rose to $100 million for the drawing on Friday, July 18 after no one matched all the winning numbers in the drawing on Tuesday, July 15. If someone matches all six numbers on Friday, they will have the option of a one-time cash payment of $44.3 million.
There have been 12 grand prizes that reached $1 billion or more, and only once in US history did a jackpot surpass $2 billion.
The wins include $7.5 million in San Jose, $5 million in Hollister, $2 million in Delhi (Merced County) and $1 million in Vacaville.
