On Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol conducted a joint operation with federal immigration officers in Jefferson County to round up 12 people believed to be in the country illegally, one of a number of raids performed around the country as the Trump administration ramps up its plans for mass deportation.

ICE announced 1,016 arrests and 814 detainers in the latest of a series of daily enforcement updates since President Trump took office last week.

The administration wants to increase the number of arrests from a few hundred per day to at least 1,200 to 1,500, increasing the chances that non-criminals will be detained.
