Friends of Big Bear Valley announced the news on Facebook on Monday with a clip from the live camera feed at the nest perched on a tree in Southern California's San Bernardino County. The nonprofit has been monitoring the eaglets, named Sunny and Gizmo, since they hatched in early March.

One of Big Bear Lake’s eagle chicks has officially taken flight. Sunny, one of the two eaglets raised by Jackie and Shadow, was seen soaring out of the nest on Monday morning, captured live on the popular Big Bear Eagle Cam.

One of the Big Bear bald eagle chicks just made a big leap. While it was not immediately clear which of the two eaglets it was, one of them flew the nest and began soaring through the sky late Monday morning.
