McCallum has been a stalwart for Utah throughout her career, but Smith has undergone a transformation into a superstar this season. Against UCLA, she was Utah’s best gymnast on two events (bars and floor) and second-best on a third (vault).

And then there was a smiling Grace McCallum. The maker of The Huntsman Center’s jubilant chaos. She had stuck her landing. The senior’s tears started flowing, while 10s flashed on the judges’ boards.

Grace McCallum’s storied career with Utah gymnastics will end when this season comes to a close. Her competition career, that is. Utah and McCallum announced Saturday night following the Red Rocks' victory over UCLA that McCallum will be back with the program for the 2026 season — as a student coach.
