MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A man has been charged with an attempted kidnapping of the mayor of Memphis after he went to the mayor’s house in a gated community and was later arrested with a Taser, gloves, rope and duct tape in his vehicle, according to police.

A man was arrested after he allegedly attempted to kidnap Memphis Mayor Paul Young, police said. Trenton Abston, 25, was taken into custody on Wednesday after police saw public and private security camera footage that allegedly showed Abston scaling the wall to the mayor’s neighborhood.

Memphis police and the mayor said security video shows the man scaling a wall to a subdivision and then walking directly to the mayor's home.
