The Legislature approved the remaining pieces of the next state budget overnight Tuesday during a special session that lasted less than a day, after lawmakers failed to complete their work in May.

The Minnesota Legislature avoided a government shutdown after state lawmakers worked around the clock to agree to a $66 billion budget deal. FOX 9's Corin Hoggard has the details from the State Capitol.

Lawmakers had a tied House and one-vote margin in the Senate. It took weeks of negotiations after the regular session adjourned for legislative leaders to get members to fall in line.
