The Twin Cities hit a record high temperature on Friday ahead of potentially severe storms arriving in the evening — with rain turning to snow overnight.

The tail-end of a mega storm that brought damaging tornadoes and winds to the central U.S. dumped several inches of snow and brought blizzard conditions to Minnesota on Saturday. Snow fell at rates of 1-3 inches per hour at times on Saturday,

We’ll see record warmth, potential lightning, thunder, wind and hail, and even a few tornadoes possible in parts of southern Minnesota Friday evening. Then heavy wind-driven snow and winds to 55 mph will cause blizzard conditions in western Minnesota by dawn Saturday.
