The sweeping tax-and-spending package now heads to President Donald Trump's desk a day before his July 4 deadline.

A main provision of the bill would make most of Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent. Independent reports show those tax breaks largely affected wealthy Americans, but the Trump administration claims low- and middle-income families will continue to save $10,000 per year if the cuts are extended.

The so-called "One, Big Beautiful Bill" passed on July 1 on a 51-50 vote after three Republicans defected, requiring Vice President JD Vance to break the tie in a dramatic flourish and send the bill back to the House for final approval but where the outcome remains uncertain.
