Alina Habba, a New Jersey native who has been serving as its top prosecutor, has garnered the enthusiastic support of the National Troopers Coalition, National Association of Police Organizations and National Police Defense Foundation since being nominated in March.

Alina Habba — who served as President Donald Trump's defense lawyer and a White House counselor and has become one of the most high-profile U.S. attorneys in the country — could see her 120-day interim term as New Jersey’s top federal prosecutor expire Tuesday.

Alina Habba is facing federal judges on Monday in a meeting that will decide if she will step down or continue in her current role as the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey. President Donald Trump, for whom Habba previously served as personal legal counsel, announced her appointment to the role on March 24.
