This is by far the worst hop on bus in the world. It is boring, the commentary is almost non existent and out of sync. The bus was clapped out. A complete waste of time and moneyFull review by Roger T

The blue line operated by the Red Bus company takes you to Monte where you can walk to the toboggan - only a few minutes walk away and it has a stop at the end of the toboggan run. You can always get a local bus or go up on the cable car and then walk down from the end of the run or get a taxi. If you start walking down for a bit and then get a taxi it is much cheaper as they are gong back into Funchal anyway - just haggle.
