We had a nice visit to the castle. We chose to walk 2.5 miles one way. You can take a shuttle if you want from the visitors center. The walk is pleasant along the lough. The castle is well maintained… Full review by nohassle1956

Yes the park is open in October. Beautiful views. And from the car park there is shuttle buses to the castle also. Just check for tour times if you want to see inside the castle as these have to be purchased. Rest of national park is free.

Hi, I am assuming you are flying in to Derry airport, so Ulsterbus route 144 goes from Derry airport to Derry bus station from 0700 to 1800 Mon - Fri and 0700 to 1600 Sat. Eire buses route 64/480 goes from Derry bus station to Letterkenny from 0700 to 2100 Mon - Sat. I do not know if buses run from Letterkenny to Glenveagh. i hope this helps.
