A large museum overlooking the open pit mine. We thought we’d only visit for 20 minutes, but ended up staying over an hour. They have one of their huge mine dump trucks parked outside.Full review by CaliforniaTraveler19

Boron, the town has 2200 people. The open pit borax mine has 800 employees. They are located on California state highway 58. Four miles east of the mine is the busy intersection with US highway 395 which has a large truck stop. Convenient, new, reasonable lodging is at the far west side of Barstow, about 50 miles east of Boron also on highway 58 where it meets with Interstate 15.
