This was our last stop on our North Shore adventure from Waikiki. We hoped to make it to the beach by sunset, but we were only able to catch the tail end. Regardless, it was a great beach! Full review by stephaniephilly

I asked my best friend (who lives on Oahu) what it was like during the championships and (like the previous response) sleep in your car- see if a hotel nearby is available- parking is not an option... unless you have been sleeping in a spot for at least a night. It's going to be PACKED, and every place that parking exists is going to charge you a ridiculous amount of money (if it's not already completely full.) People line the entire beach line (The Entire North Shore) watching the competition. If I were you, I would try and get into the area 2 days before the championship, and try and stay at a cheap hotel (no worry about parking or walking miles to see with a pair of binoculars.) It is extremely crowded and something that has become VERY sacred to the Hawaiian people so it's very laid back and fun- but driving in on the day of the championship is going to be a 4 hour, bumper to bumper line of traffic. If there's a cheap hotel (book one ASAP as they fill up FAST!) Hope this helps
