The galleries have interesting exhibits and a fantastic view of the main part of the church, but it's not an essential part of visiting Westminster Abbey. It's like an extra bonus, but if you're pres… Full review by jbaxtero

This is the cherry on top of the Westminster Abbey experience. Super interesting things to see and think about, and the view down into the Abbey from above is exhilarating! Full review by SalliJune A

It was hard to know what to expect at the Diamond Jubilee Galleries from the website and reviews. It is a collection of historic art, relics, and bits of Westminster Abbey and some historic interpret… Full review by sisterbay716

I've been to Westminster Abbey 3 times and love it, however was not planning on going again during my next trip in a couple weeks. I then saw that these had been opened and am now rethinking. Is this exhibit worth buying a ticket for the Abbey? I'd love to buy just a ticket to this but doesn't look like I can and prices for the Abbey are quite high, so I'm wondering if it's worth it just to see these? Thanks!

For any lover of Westminster Abbey, the unmissable new galleries offer an unprecedented and unrivalled vantage point; views are spectacular, exhibits fascinating. If you go, be sure to look up at stone carvings practically untouched and unblemished after 800 years! The newly constructed access tower is itself an architectural masterpiece; a contender for the coveted 2019 RIBA Stirling Prize. If you can afford it you won't be disappointed; we totally indulged and spent three hours in the galleries alone, savouring every moment!

Thank you to everyone who has reviewed this exhibit! We are visiting in June and I'm wondering what time I should schedule our visit to the Queen's Galleries for. We will most likely get there first thing in the morning with 9:30 timed tickets; should we visit the Queen's Galleries right away and then go back and tour the rest of the Abbey, or tour the Abbey first followed by the Queen's Galleries? I'm leaning toward the second option (rest of the Abbey first followed by Queen's Galleries) to avoid the later heavy crowds in the main Abbey. If the second option, how long should we allow to tour the abbey before our timed entry to the Queen's Galleries? And finally, how much time should we allow to tour the abbey and Queen's Galleries with two teen boys? Thank you!

I can give you a Brit's perspective: we totally indulged ourselves, spending three hours and viewing everything in the Diamond Jubilee Galleries; in truth allow an hour there to sample the exhibits and soak up the views, both internal and external. My tip would be Abbey first: make straight for the Royal Tombs and the Henry the Seventh Chapel; you can always return afterwards to the start of the suggested tour route. If visiting the Cloisters, Chapter House, Pyx Chamber, and Cafeteria, you will be asked to surrender your audio guide but can collect it if returning to the main Abbey. If the imagination of two teen boys can be fired by a thousand years of British History, by tombs and memorials to the great and the good, and stunning medieval architecture, you could spend all day there; otherwise you may be in and out in a couple of hours! Make sure you enjoy it.
