I came here to see the house while my partner and our puppy waited in the parking lot as dogs aren’t allowed inside. The woman working at 10am on Saturday December 20th was unbelievably rude as said …Full review by Carol V

This is a beautiful estate. I will say the signage for entry should be better. We passed it once, and then turned in the exit. Very difficult to find. The home is absolutely beautiful, and has so…Full review by JPCDirector
Can I bring a service dog in a carrier to tour the gardens, only?
A:
In most places service dogs are permitted. However Emotional support animals are not allowed in most places. It is always best to call the place you are going to, to confirm!
I so appreciate your comment about the Abraham Lincoln focus. It's totally inappropriate and out-of-place. If the exhibit was dedicated to the relationship between Robert and his father, that would make sense, but not a specific focus on Abe.

Hi! Hildene has dedicated a room in the home to Abraham Lincoln (in his role as President, not as Robert's father), and that is what I am referring to. Hildene was built in 1905, 40 years after the President's death. Although I respect your opinion that since there is only 1% focus on Abraham Lincoln, it's okay because it's so little. I, on the other hand, believe it takes away from the meaning and purpose of keeping the history of Robert's Vermont summer home authentic. It's kind of like having a little statue of Robert next to his dad at the Lincoln Memorial. The late President's Memorial in DC is there to show his importance to our history and where we can go to honor him; Robert should shine in his own right, and Hildene is uniquely his, as were his accomplishments (irrespective of his father). Whatever the percentage of focus is, Hildene is a unique local historic treasure, and definitely worth visiting! In the spring the grounds come alive with beautiful gardens awakening from the cold winter. The Goat and Dene Farms are very busy welcoming kids, piglets and calves. The fresh scent from the Celebration of the Peonies fills the summer breeze. These beauties are among the many blooming flowers and flourishing plants to walk around and sit by. In autumn the trees are alive with yellow, orange and red leaves! And the winter holiday season is festively evident when Hildene is decked out as it would have been in 1912. So definitely visit and enjoy all Hildene has to offer!
