A must-do experience if you are in the region. We arrived around 5.30pm, approximately 2 hours before sunset. There were quite a lot of people but the dunes are expansive so it is very easy to find…Full review by Christine P

Hi, I am planning to reach Arcachon station at around 5:30p.m. in late June and drop my bags at the hotel and then visit dune of pilat with my family (2 kids aged 1 & 3). Hello, my friend. No, I recommend that you visit the dune de Pilat earlier and not in the afternoon,for various reasons: 1) It is a wonder to see and it is best viewed if you have broad daylight and many hours in front of you, 2) The place may be closed for the public late in the afternoon, 3) Since there is a lot of sand but also a lot of forest around it, I find it prudent to be there in the morning, especially if I have children with me. This is my opinion. Advice: Remember to take with you sunglasses and sun screen. I got a sunburn on my face!

How long would it take ? That would depend on where you were cycling from I guess ! There is nothing much in the area other than campsites, forestry and the beach.
