I came at 9.30am and everything was locked so could not see inside. It was September, shoulder season, so not sure why could not get in. Disappointing as I went out of my way to see. Full review by 518leeannn

It depends where you are staying in County Donegal. We had a rental car because it is the best way to get around. I suspect you may be concerned about getting a rental car and driving on the left side of the road. I had the same concerns since I live in Maryland. It took me two days of driving to feel comfortable driving on the left side of the road. Fortunately road traffic in that part of Ireland is very light and rural. I did not see any taxi stands at Glenveah Castle or Doe Castle. I did see several tour buses at Glenveagh Castle. Since I do not know where you are staying in County Donegal, you probably should check if there is a tour bus that departs near your accommodations or hire a private tour guide for the day. A short part of the road near Doe Castle is very narrow, barely enough room for one car. That was not a problem because there was only a few cars in the parking lot. I am not aware of any public transportation to Doe Castle or Glenveah Castle or Park.
Q:
are the grounds dog friendly
A:
There are no restrictions regarding dogs. Obviously they must be kept under control.
