So cool! The exhibition hall is a must see if you’re in the area. You get to touch actual 150 million year old dinosaur bones! Great exhibit, knowledgeable park rangers and a vast landscape to explor… Full review by OnAir30065250900

Beautiful views and rock structures. If you go to the viewing station you will actually see a bunch of bones in the rocks. We did the Utah and CO side. Each are different. Full review by mnguru1

They do have the bones, no question about it. But most of the creations inside the Visitors Center look like 3-D Printing… If you don’t have kids in your party, skip it. Admission is included in the… Full review by Oliver S

Yes one day is more than sufficient in my opinion. We drove there from Moab, UT on our way back to Salt Lake City. Entrance on Utah side by Visitor Center and Quarry is where you want to enter. We did not take any hiking trails as you only see bones at quarry. You can take a drive around but it already took awhile to get there so we weren’t interested in that. Spent the night in Vernal at Dinosaur Inn which was very nice for a motel looking establishment. Also Had dinner a few blocks away at the Vernal Brewing Company which was excellent and beer was really good. Stop in at Ashley Trading post on Main Street it’s a great store.

I joked about "digging" to one of the rangers. They were not amused. Removing any object from a national park is a federal offense. Do not make that mistake. The major dig at the monument has been completed so I think they removed 99.9999% of the bones any way. Perhaps you can google digging outings on private land with somebody who has both the training and permission to explore. When my kids were younger we did such a dig with a dinosaur hunter in Florida! We found tons of small bones in a stream channel and I personally found a huge shark tooth. There may be similar people and programs in Utah as well. Good luck.

How many days should one set aside to visit this park? I’m having trouble figuring out if one, two, or even three nights camping in the park would be sufficient to see most of it.

I highly recommend one of the 2 companies that do a one day raft trip through the split mountain gorge in the monument. Another day for the fossils and the Colorado side viewpoints. Camping is great at Echo park next to steamboat rock and the river. Have fun!

I read at a website for National Park Service that due to severe weather damage to this area, only the Exhibit Hall is open...no hiking trails or other roads. Is this true? I don't want to drive 6 hours for an Exhibit Hall full of kids... I'd appreciate any info you can share about what's available there. Thanks!
A:
Hi DiAnna, That is incorrect. All roads and trails are open except for one, which is the fossil discovery trail that connects the exhibit hall and the visitor center. Everything else is open.
