It was sold out when we there two weeks ago. I'd suggest it might be a good idea. And depending on where you are staying leave a bit of extra time to get there. Lots of hikers and cyclists on the narrow roads. We arrived 2 minutes late but as per the review they held the train for us. Lovely people. And go to the loo first. First half of the journey is non-stop but a 15 minute turn around and then another 15 minute to a midway point that has a cafe and toilets. Loved the ride though. So did my 10 year old.
